  1. Firstly rinse sago and soak in water for 2hrs,should be soft when crushed between fingers. note:sago should be soaked with little water jus above sago, not more water.
  2. Boil sago with enough water until it's cooked and done keep aside, cook moong dal adding enough water in the pressure cooker (2whistles), grind 2tbsp of fresh coconut adding little water in a blender to a smooth paste,.
  3. Now place a deep sauce pan on medium flame, add in cooked moong dal, cooked sago, fresh coconut paste, a pinch of salt,add little water and adjust the consistency combine everything well,cook till it gets one boil add a cup of pound jaggery mix well.. and cook for 6-7 minutes note:if you feel jaggery has impurities, can add little water melt it, strain it then add to payasam.
  4. Add in saffron strands, cardamom powder, ghee & chopped dry fruits, mix well...turn off the flame..and your delicious sago moong dal payasam is ready...
